Mrs. McCarty’s second grade science class traveled to the Columbia Museum of Art this week to visit the Georgia O’Keefe exhibit currently on display. The trip merged the worlds of science (O’Keefe is known for her flowers and plant life) and art for an upcoming project. The girls look like natural art enthusiasts!

“I would like to thank the Loyalty Fund for allowing me to teach the joy of learning. Through the Loyalty Fund, I can teach innovative, hands-on, exploratory lessons which capture the students’ interest. I love seeing students challenged and the enthusiasm they experience when they solve a problem! Programming comes alive with the Arduino microcontrollers! Robotics allows the girls to think critically to solve problems! Because of the Loyalty Fund, our students are exposed to these unique subjects which they may choose to pursue as a career. The love of learning can incite interest in a future career. – Ashley Cook, Ashley Hall Faculty Member

An annual tradition enjoyed by Lower School students, 1st grade girls enjoy joining Head of School, Mrs. Muti for a special reading of a Halloween book followed by a trek up the McBee House’s winding staircase to the attic to see Georgie, the friendly ghost. If Georgie is not there, she will leave a note and a treat for the girls. Happy Halloween!
