Lesson Offerings

Private Lessons

Private lessons are scheduled on an individual basis with the teacher. All lessons take place on Ashley Hall campus, Monday through Friday. Students studying piano, violin, viola, and cello perform in a solo recital at least once per session. Piano accompaniment is provided.

The goal of composition private lessons is for students to compose and notate at least one composition per session, to be performed by the student composer and/or other musician(s). Composition lessons are open to students who currently study piano, or have a minimum three years of study on their primary instrument.

Students in this program have won numerous local, regional, and national composition contests and awards and have been accepted to the nationally renowned Brevard summer camp under merit scholarship.

For more details about private composition lessons, contact Dan McCurry, [email protected]

Students enrolled in String Academy for violin, viola, and cello are also required to attend group lessons once a week in addition to their private lesson. Group lessons include:

-Solfège, aural skills, rhythmic training, movement, and music theory
-Scales, technique, Suzuki and supplemental repertoire
-Solo performance practice opportunities with piano accompaniment
-Group concert performances at least once per session

-Students are expected to practice outside of lessons every day for the same amount of time as their lesson (for example, a student who takes a 30 minute private lesson is expected to practice 30 minutes a day at home).

-Parents are expected to help students establish a daily practice routine, providing necessary materials and a quiet place free from distractions.

-Parents are expected to help younger students (ages 5–10) practice at home. Parents are expected to attend private lessons to take notes or video record.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where do I register?

Ashley Hall After School registration is now hosted on Campium. You can access our website to log in or create an account here: https://ashleyhall.campium.com/

How do I register?

Once you complete the AHAS 2023 form for your child(ren), you will select all the fall enrichment opportunities you’d like for them to participate in. This includes extended days, private lessons, swimming, cubs, dance, and specialty clubs.

My child was waitlisted, what do I do?

Each program director will compile the list of registered students and ensure that each child is placed in the appropriate group. Once groups are finalized, any spaces made available will be opened to the waitlist in the order the child(ren) were registered.

Is this just fall after-school enrichment programs?

Yes, the registration on July 12 is for the fall semester. There will be a separate registration process for the spring semester around October. We will be sure to announce the official date so everyone can plan accordingly.

When is payment due for all AHAS programming?

All funds for Ashley Hall After School programs are now 100 percent due upon registration. This includes Extended Day, swimming, enrichment classes, private lessons, CUBS, and dance. We will be utilizing Campium to host all registration this fall. Please know that you must create an account and you can use a credit card to submit payment (AMEX is not accepted). Campium is the same registration site utilized for our summer programs, and any account you’ve already created can be used for fall enrichment.
You can access Ashley Hall’s registration site by visiting https://ashleyhall.campium.com/

Can I be issued a refund for a session?

There are no refunds for any session once registration is completed. A credit for future programming may be issued per written request; however, all final decisions are up to the discretion of the School.

Do I need Extended Day care?

All Early School students who plan to stay after school must register for Extended Day. The only exception is CUBS after-school program which starts immediately after dismissal.

All K-8 students who plan to stay after school must register for Extended Day. Those students enrolled in an AHAS session that starts between 3-4:00 p.m. do not need to enroll in Extended Day as long as they are picked up directly at the conclusion of their AHAS programming and do not return to Extended Day.
