Class of 2016
The Class of 2016 has officially taken their place as the newest members of the Ashley Hall Alumnae sisterhood.
- With a class totaling 53, nearly half of our seniors accepted merit scholarships for academics. Many more students earned scholarships but chose to attend other institutions offering a better fit, substantial needs-based aid or instate tuition.
- Cumulatively, the class garnered more than $3.1 million in merit scholarships to colleges and universities around the country.
- Our graduates are attending 35 different colleges and universities.
- Class members were accepted into 5 Honors Programs: The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Morehead-Cain Scholar), Clemson University, University of South Carolina and College of Charleston.
Congratulations to the Class of 2016. We could not be more proud of these young women and all they have accomplished at Ashley Hall. Look out world, here they come.

My name is Molly Waring ’02, and I am honored to introduce myself as the 2016-2017 president of the Ashley Hall Alumnae Association. I give back to Ashley Hall for a multitude of reasons—legacy, community, opportunity—but, overall, I feel an inherent sense of responsibility to give back to the community that has given me so much.
Many of you share my feelings, as is evident by the 661 alumnae who have given back to Ashley Hall already this fiscal year. In fact, this sense of gratitude and responsibility has reached even further than we imagined it would, embracing support from alumnae as far away as Hawaii and as young as the Class of 2016—our youngest sisters! One hundred percent participation in the Loyalty Fund from this graduating class says a tremendous amount about how current students feel about Ashley Hall. Your support is what has made this school the best it can be. Thank you.
If you have not yet had a chance, please join us by making a donation this fiscal year which ends June 30. Each gift, no matter the size, increases our alumnae giving percentage and strengthens our school. The alumnae body is the strongest giving constituency within Ashley Hall—and no wonder—we are the ones who know first hand what this great school has done for us, and what it truly means to be an Ashley Hall Girl.
Ashley Hall is pleased to announce that Lizzie Russler ‘16 has been awarded the prestigious Morehead-Cain Scholarship at the University of North Carolina. Next fall she will join Ashley Hall alumnae and Morehead-Cain Scholars, Rossi Anastopoulo ’13 and Caroline Lowery ’12 in Chapel Hill. The Morehead-Cain is one of the oldest and most distinguished merit scholarships in the nation, with accomplished students from around the world competing to earn a four-year full-ride to UNC with generous stipends for summer travel, research, internship and service opportunities, and entrée into the elite Morehead network. It’s a coup for any school to have a Morehead Scholar among its graduates, let alone three in five years. Ashley Hall is proud of this remarkable accomplishment—PQV, Lizzie!
Loyalty Fund Week is a time when the entire school community rallies together and shows support for Ashley Hall. Participation is the theme of this year’s campaign and we ask all Ashley Hall families to join in and participate in our annual fund on whatever level you feel appropriate for your family.
250 Participatory Gifts = An Extra $25,000!
This year, an anonymous donor has presented a challenge to us all. This donor has proposed a generous gift of $25,000 to the Loyalty Fund once 250 gifts have been received by the week’s end. This is why your gift, no matter the size, is more important than every!

We were thrilled to have alumna and former First Lady Barbara Pierce Bush ’43 visit campus on February 17. During a special assembly held in her honor, students, faculty and staff, and Board of Trustee members enjoyed hearing Mrs. Bush regale fondly of her time at Ashley Hall where she served as captain of the Purples and also played the role of the speaking angel in the school’s annual Christmas Play. Exuding her signature warmth and wit, Mrs. Bush graciously answered numerous questions from the students covering both political and personal areas of interest. Head of School Jill Muti closed the program by honoring Mrs. Bush with the Distinguished Alumnae Award and an Ashley Hall Alumnae pin which she wore proudly throughout the rest of the day.
