Loyalty Fund Week is a time when the entire school community rallies together and shows support for Ashley Hall. Participation is the theme of this year’s campaign and we ask all Ashley Hall families to join in and participate in our annual fund on whatever level you feel appropriate for your family.

This year, an anonymous donor has presented a challenge to us all. This donor has proposed a generous gift of $25,000 to the Loyalty Fund once 250 gifts have been received by the week’s end. This is why your gift, no matter the size, is more important than every!

Tickets are now on sale for Ashley Hall’s spring celebration, Bingo & Ballroom, which takes place Saturday night, March 5, at Memminger Auditorium. At this rollicking event, enjoy vintage cocktails and classic hors ‘oeuvres in the cocktail lounge; a sumptuous, retro buffet dinner by Cru Catering with desserts, wine, beer and champagne; all bingo rounds with legendary entertainer Billy Bingo of Sea Island fame with a chance to win prizes; dancing to party orchestra, Big Blast and the Party Masters; and complimentary parking. For the 16th year, Ashley Hall has joyfully supported a campus-wide holiday gift-giving project for Chicora Elementary School located in North Charleston, where 95% of the student body is at, or below, poverty level. Nearly every Ashley Hall girl got into the spirit this year by bringing toys or clothes for these children. It took 26 cars and three small buses to transport the goodies to Chicora Elementary. Through the gracious support of the Ashley Hall community, nearly 500 children were given the gift of Christmas!

The Ashley Hall experience has been very special for the Nistads, which is why we agreed to co-chair this year’s Loyalty Fund. Joining us as co-chairs are Pete and Kathy Nistad (grand-parents) and Kevin and Jennifer Nistad McCooey ’99.

Extraordinary opportunities for our family have been made possible in large part by the Loyalty Fund. Our older daughter, McCrae, is a Senior this year. She played four years of varsity tennis and has been on the lacrosse team since its inception. She also was a crew member on the Roseway for the Offshore Leadership Program and a four-year participant in the Model United Nations Conference at William & Mary College. Mason, our 6th grader, learned to play the violin and is becoming a skilled volleyball player. She is looking forward to all of the extraordinary opportunities, like the Roseway, that lay ahead.

We see our Loyalty Fund support at work on a daily basis, and want to preserve those opportunities – not only for our girls, but for all the students at Ashley Hall who are well on their way to becoming “rock stars.”

Through the Loyalty Fund, I can teach innovative, hands-on, exploratory lessons which capture the students’ interest. I love seeing students challenged and the enthusiasm they experience when they solve a problem! Programming comes alive with the Arduino microcontrollers! Robotics allows the girls to think critically to solve problems! Because of the Loyalty Fund, our students are exposed to these unique subjects which they may choose to pursue as a career.
