Future chefs in the making! Ashley Cook’s 6th Grade class carefully prepares three meals from their organic garden. Everyone agreed that their vegetables, fruits and herbs taste better than at the grocery store!

Did you know that the earlier girls are encouraged to explore STEM programming (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) the more likely they will be interested in pursuing this area of study later in their academic careers? In early February, Lower School students hosted STEM Night, inviting parents and our campus community. Using the engineering design process, 3rd and 4th graders were challenged to build a hovercraft that hovers and travels across a table.
STEM + girls = Success

In true Ashley Hall form, Panther Athletics experienced an extraordinary fall in several areas of sport. An impressive season all around, five Panther teams advanced to State championships with many Bantam teams (grades 6 through 8) participating in tournaments as well. PQV to all our student athletes, including the following team successes:

2016 Cross Country State Champions | 2016 Varsity Tennis State Champions | 2016 Varsity Volleyball State Runner Up | 2016 Varsity Golf State Runner Up | 2016 Varsity Swimming (3rd in State)

It’s been a busy, but successful, fall season for Panther Athletics. The Ashley Hall Golf Team came in as runner up in the South Carolina State Championship. In the South Carolina Independent School Association and IEA Horse Show, the Ashley Hall Equestrian team won in both the high school and middle school groups. Both varsity volleyball and tennis teams will participate in state playoffs. Let’s go Panthers!

On October 15, surrounded by the beauty of St. Matthews Lutheran Church’s historic sanctuary, Upper School music students took to the stage for a program of classical and contemporary music. The school’s Red Choir, renowned for its impressive repertoire and pristine sound, performed a traditional Irish folk song entitled The Parting Glass as well as Charleston, a special musical arrangement composed by faculty member Dr. Robin Gardner. String musicians ranging from 7th to 10th grade were exquisite in their performance of works by Brahms, Handel, and Schubert. Rounding out the program, members of the Swing Choir entertained the audience with an energetic version of Stay with Me.

Ashley Hall’s Early Education Center students are exposed to French daily through a communicative approach. Instructor, Madame Dardar, captures one-on-one videos throughout the year of the young students’ progress. In this brief video, you will see three year old Maisie Callahan and her mastery of French basics such as greetings, gender differentiation (boy versus girl), and identification of parts of the face. Très bien, Maisie! Click here to watch the video.
