Ashley Hall invites the Charleston community to a powerful concert celebrating the legacy and creativity of female composers.
Featuring music written by seven 17th and 18th century European women, Her World: Female Musical Masters will highlight each woman’s artistic contributions through musical pieces, oral commentary, and visual projections. Ranging in age from 16 to 73 and hailing from diverse backgrounds—including a nun, royalty, lesser aristocracy, and professional composers—the women are linked through both their dynamic creations and their perseverance in pursuing a male-dominated art form. Performers include Ashley Hall faculty, friends, and family members, and the concert also honors the gift of a harpsichord to the School by Dr. William Gudger, professor emeritus of the College of Charleston.
Ashley Hall artists include: Anna Brock, piano; Aubrey Goio, cello; Jill Muti, flute; Jennifer Weiss, violin
Guest artist: Dr. Julia Harlow, harpsichord
Please enter the Ashley Hall campus through the Smith Street Gate.
