Mariana Hay ’09 recently returned to campus to talk with sophomores about her career path to becoming a nationally-recognized jewelry designer. A second-generation Ashley Hall alumna, Hay is the creator of the popular Goldbug Collection featured at Croghan’s Jewel Box and many other jewelers nationally. Hay was Visual Arts faculty member Nancy Langston’s first sculpture student at Ashley Hall and enjoyed revisiting the Ingram Arts Studio, where she spent many happy hours creating and exploring her artistic impulses. She also offered sound advice to students as they envision their future careers. “Try to absorb everything you can from school,” Hay noted. “While I was very committed to 3D art while a student, now the majority of my business and work involves drawing and math! Keep an open mind, and your creativity will always shine through.”
