We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to campus for the start of the new school year at Ashley Hall! Here are a few important reminders and dates. Be sure to visit the Back to School Resource Board in the Learning Commons for more information about our community’s health and wellness, our Blended Learning Model, and other campus activities.

Town Hall Meeting with School Administrators

School administrators addressed back to school questions and planning during a virtual Town Hall Meeting on August 5. Families may visit the Back to School resource board in the Learning Commons for a recording of the webinar as well as an addendum of answers to additional questions that were asked.

PHASED SCHEDULE FOR BEGINNING THE ASHLEY HALL 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR

| First Day of School, Virtual Meet the Teacher Morning (K–12th grade)
August 21 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Marking the first official day of the new school year, Friday, August 21 will feature students meeting their teachers and attending small group meetings, hosted virtually. Stay tuned for more details for your division.

August 24 (half day)
All grade levels begin on campus

Week of August 24-Week of August 31

For the weeks of August 24 and August 31, students will attend distance learning classes, giving all students the opportunity to meet teachers, engage in activities of review and class goal-setting, and begin coursework for the 2020-2021 school year. These classes will be scheduled in the 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. time block, with each division and grade level publishing its own specific expectations for students to engage both synchronously (online together at a specific time) and asynchronously (on their own time frame). These schedules will be communicated by your Division Director in the upcoming weeks.

Early Education Center (EEC)

Pre-Primary | August 19 at 1:00 p.m.
Primary

Families will virtually attend a grade-level Orientation webinar, where they will discuss the upcoming year with teachers and learn about new campus safety procedures. EEC faculty will also conduct home visits for new families. Home visit settings will be based on the needs of each individual family and planned with each child’s classroom teacher.

Lower School
August 24 at 1:00 p.m.
Families will virtually attend a division-specific Orientation webinar, where they will discuss the upcoming year with administrators and teachers and learn about new campus safety procedures.

Intermediate Program
August 25 at 1:00 p.m.

Families will virtually attend a division-specific Orientation webinar, where they will discuss the upcoming year with administrators and teachers and learn about new campus safety procedures.

Upper School
August 26 at 1:00 p.m. | Nautilus Program (7th & 8th grades)

August 27 at 1:00 p.m. | 9th-12th grades
Families will virtually attend a division-specific Orientation webinar, where they will discuss the upcoming year with administrators and teachers and learn about new campus safety procedures.

These orientation sessions will be in-person for students only and focus on enhanced health and safety procedures on campus. Session times will be released closer to the orientation dates.

Please note: Orientations for 5th-12th grades will be scheduled in the afternoons to accommodate the morning schedule for academic instruction via distance learning. Lower School students will experience their Orientation on September 8 as part of their first day back on campus.

| Phased Return to Campus Schedules  
Ashley Hall will officially begin on-campus learning on Monday, August 24 (half-day) for the Early Education Center and the week of September 8–11 (full day) for all other divisions.

August 24 | EEC (half day): all grade levels begin on campus
September 8 | Lower School and Intermediate Program: all grade levels begin on campus
September 8 & 10 | Upper School: 8th, 11th, and 12th grades (7th, 9th, and 10th grades will distance learn)
September 9 & 11 | Upper School: 7th, 9th, and 10th grades (8th, 11th, and 12th grades will distance learn)
September 14 | Upper School: all grade levels on campus

General Forms Deadline

General forms for each student are now available in the Learning Commons. Please ensure that you have completed these critical documents by August 7 (July 24 for student athletes). Students will not be allowed to return to campus until their forms have been completed and submitted.
