Women in Leadership

In 1984, in conjunction with the school's 75th anniversary, Margaret MacDonald, former Headmistress, launched the Women in Leadership series to showcase talented alumnae, introducing their inspiring stories to our students. The successful program continued throughout her tenure at Ashley Hall.

In January of 2009, with Jennet Robinson Alterman '70 as chair, Ashley Hall launched "Women with the Will, The Centennial Women in Leadership Series". Once again prominent alumnae and women came to Ashley Hall to inspire, teach and motivate students and alumnae alike. Topics for the Centennial series included Women in Politics, Women and the Environment, The Evolution of Women's Rights, Women and the Global Economy, and Women and Service.

In Fall of 2010, the Women in Leadership program continued with a focus on Women in Design with interior designers, Margaret Donaldson '77 , owner of Margaret Donaldson Interiors, and her protégé, Amy McKinney Luff '03, sharing their personal career paths, as well as ideas and inspiration from their own design work.

Most recently, the Women in Leadership series focused on Women's Health. With a panel of experts including pediatrician Dr. Aimee Goedecke, OB-GYN, Dr. Kate Schuh White '88, and gynecologist, Elaine Conradi Eustis '84, specializing in menopause, literally all stages in the life of a female were covered.

Each speaker series features interactive sessions between our guest presenters and student groups, followed by a presentation open to alumnae, parents and friends to meet and work closely with our presenters.
