Jenkins Hall History

As part of the Humanities curriculum, Upper School history courses build on survey courses in world history, geography and American Constitutional history and move toward Foundations of Western Civilization and Modern World History. As in English, so here, students engaged via Harkness Table methods explore primary sources in the classical history canon, learning the historical and cultural contexts behind the works. In their junior and senior years, students may choose Honors or Advance Placement courses in United States History and Art History, as well as AP American Government and Politics and AP Microeconomics. Senior Honors electives, offered on a rotating basis, include World Geography and Politics; Human Rights and International Law; Peace, War and Defense: America's Military History; Class, Race, and Gender; and Modern Chinese History.
