In their continuing efforts to clean up the Lowcountry's waterways, 6th Grade students tagged storm drains on campus and in the surrounding neighborhood with placards. Some residents may not know that these storm drains flow directly into our Ashley and Cooper rivers and the girls hope to reduce pollution by raising awareness of the hazards posed to the environment by storm water. The girls have also begun a letter writing campaign to local merchants commending them for green activities and proposing solutions to reduce plastic bag waste. Harris Teeter responded to the girls by sending them all reusable bags and a letter commending their dedication. Read more about their efforts in the upcoming Perspectives.
