Congratulations to our student artists whose inspirational works have been chosen to be exhibited at The Ronald McDonald House. In 2011, the third grade studied the artist Faith Ringgold, who wrote and illustrated Tar Beach, the story of a young girl who dreams of being free to fly wherever she wants for the rest of her life. Inspired by the story, the students painted the places they would fly to if they could, including Japan, Hawaii, and the more fanciful Guinea Pig Island or Hershey's Chocolate World. They then created frames for their paintings by choosing and folding paper squares in colors that would enhance their work. Mrs. Wellein chose these particular pieces for the Ronald McDonald House because they are simply "outstanding works of art."
