PQV to sixth grader Ann Sheridan, who has been selected to serve on the Girls' Advisory Board for the EngineerGirl! website.Ann is among the 150 girls from 30 states who will be helping redesign the EngineeringGirl! website that is sponsored by The National Academy of Engineering. Girls were selected for their leadership abilities and their potential to benefit from interacting with a diverse group of girls discussing engineering. Ann has already attended her first of several online web-based conference calls with a group of other board members to share ideas for the redesigned website.
"The first meeting was fun," Ann said. "I talked to a lot of girls around the country, and we agreed on ideas to improve the site." Ann was the only 6th grade student in this online group of mostly 8thgraders.
Ann credits her interest in engineering to her dad, who is an engineer. Her interest has also been fostered at Ashley Hall in her science class with the bridge design and current ROV project and the after school robotics activity with senior Danielle Feerst. Although Ann's board work is redesign, she recommends looking at the profile of women engineers on the site.
Congratulations Ann!
