PQV to 10th Grade Novelists!

Congratulations to the tenth grade students who completed the Nanowrimo (National Novel Writing Month) 50,000 word challenge for November! Nanowrimo is a national writing initiative sponsored by the non-profit organization, The Office of Letters and Lights Programs, with the main goal of encouraging and promoting writers to challenge themselves and take creative risks by writing a novel. It is about quantity, not quality, so the inner editor must take a sabbatical during the writing frenzy. To reach the 30-day goal, students had to write 1700 words per day for the entire month! Not only was this an exercise in creative writing; it was also an exercise in time management and self-discipline. I am proud to say that 95% of the tenth grade reached the 50,000 word goal, and at least seven students wrote a cohesive novel. Although there were several instances of angst and panic, all students persevered and made their personal goals. PQV!
