Academic Programs Pardue Hall

Grades Kindergarten through Four

In Lower School, academics get more challenging and structured, but the Ashley Hall philosophy of interactive, child-centered learning is paramount. Students learn not only basic facts and concepts, but are encouraged and empowered to think and express themselves in traditional and imaginative ways. Our Lower School faculty uses a Responsive Classroom philosophy which builds on the Reggio-Emilia program in our EEC. Daily morning meetings begin each school day on a positive foot, creating an atmosphere conducive to a focused and effective learning community.

Hands-on learning activities in mathematics develop the critical thinking and problem solving skills necessary to become active, independent thinkers, while language arts instruction fosters a lifelong love of literature and the written word. Social Studies and Science classes teach students to make connections between their own experiences and the world around them, and technology is integrated into the curriculum to build 21st century skills in all areas of study. Students also benefit from daily exposure to foreign language, physical education, and the arts.

Ashley Hall's well-rounded curriculum addresses different learning styles, challenging students to apply their imaginations in exploring new ideas and engage in guided inquiry. Our strong academic program is designed to instill a life-long love of learning as students embark on their journey of self-discovery and academic growth.
