On November 11-12, National English Honor Society (NEHS) members Shira Cohen, Danielle Feerst, Sarah Jean Hinson, Rebecca Howell, Katharina Koch, Anna Lanford, Anna Outten, Susannah Schools, and Alexa Weeks volunteered for YALLFest, the first Charleston Young Adult Book Festival. Featuring 29 of the country's leading authors of literature geared toward young adults, including many best-selling New York Times authors, the festival featured lively panel discussions at the American Theater and book signings at Blue Bicycle Books. Whether serving hors d'oeuvres at the Guest Authors Welcome Party or directing festival-goers to the appropriate venue on King Street, Ashley Hall volunteers enjoyed the distinction of being the only high school students involved in the event.
Ashley Hall was also well-represented at the YALLFest Writing Symposium held at the College of Charleston on Friday, Nov. 11, during which Mozie Frizelle, Ellen Fogel, Giselle Libby, and Jessica Schnorr had the opportunity to work with YALLFest authors in small groups of students from other area high schools.
