Arts At Ashley Hall

The arts are alive at Ashley Hall! Arts are integrated thoroughly in curricula from EEC through graduation. Opportunities abound to apply creativity, explore imagination and unleash curiosity, which helps stimulate learning and broaden students' worldviews. Excellent instruction in music, visual and performing arts cultivates students' talents and aesthetic sensibilities, while cross-curricular programs deepen students' understanding of the arts and their connection to the humanities and sciences.

Ashley Hall's comprehensive arts program includes:

  • Fine Arts classes, including drawing, painting, pottery, sculpting, photography, film studies, drama, chorus, dance, and more;
  • A fee-based Applied Lessons program offering students the opportunity to study music privately during the course of their school day or after school;
  • The Carolina String Academy at Ashley Hall, which offers students beginning through advanced violin, viola, and cello study coupled with string ensemble electives in Intermediate and Upper School and group classes in Lower School;
  • Exhibition opportunities for visual arts students who showcase work in the Fine Arts Center, Davies Auditorium and the Library/Science Center atrium as well as in local exhibitions and competitions;
  • Performance opportunities in recitals, plays, musical productions, concerts and school events, as well as in external festivals and competitions.
Our accomplished arts faculty is dedicated to cultivating the talents of each child. They set high standards for excellence in the arts and promote creative thinking in all avenues of academic life.
